Let me first start by saying this is a WEIRD recipe. It came from a cookbook someone emailed to my mom that attempts to recreate restaurant's recipes. I would have never thought to mix these ingredients together, but the result is incredibly tasty. Justin LOVES Popeye's biscuits, and these are as close as I can get. He rated them a 9+/10 and said they are just a "smidgen" below the beloved Popeye's biscuits on his biscuit totem pole. I'll take that as a major compliment. These biscuits are super easy to make and you can substitute fat free sour cream and smart balance butter to make them not AS bad for you...You can also half the recipe like I did.
SERVINGS: 12
CATEGORY: Bread
METHOD: Baking
TIME:30 minutes (including prep)
INGREDIENTS:
4 cups Bisquick
4 ounce sour cream
1 cup club soda (at room temp.)
1 stick margarine
DIRECTIONS:
Prehead oven to 375 degrees. Mix bisquick, sour cream and club soda together. Pour onto floured surface and knead very lightly. Roll out to about 1/2" thickness and cut with cutter (or a drinking glass like I did). Melt butter and pour half into a glass casserole dish. Place biscuits in dish (it's ok if they are touching) and pour remaining butter over top of biscuits. Bake at 375 for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
